What to include in a notice

The copyright owner or an authorized representative should provide:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • The copyrighted work, or a representative list of works, and a link or description identifying the original.
  • The material you want removed and enough detail to locate it, such as an exact URL or generation job ID.
  • Your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith that the disputed use is not permitted by the owner, their agent or the law.
  • A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to represent the owner of the allegedly infringed exclusive right.

Review and removal

We review notices and may ask for missing information. For a valid notice, we act promptly to remove or disable access to material we control and take reasonable steps to notify the affected user. We may share the notice, including contact details, with that user as needed to handle the complaint.

If you believe a removal was mistaken

Send a counter-notice to the same inbox with the subject “Copyright counter-notice” and include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • The removed material and where it appeared before removal.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith that removal resulted from a mistake or misidentification.
  • Your name, address and telephone number; consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Federal District Court covering your address, or, if outside the U.S., any district where the service provider may be found; and agreement to accept service of process from the complainant or their agent.

After a counter-notice

Where the Section 512 counter-notice procedure applies, we forward a compliant counter-notice to the complainant. Material is restored between 10 and 14 business days after receipt unless the complainant notifies us of a court action seeking to prevent the disputed use. Separate violations of our terms may still prevent access.

Other concerns and misuse

For privacy, likeness or consent concerns, use the same email and describe the issue; you do not need to claim copyright ownership. Knowingly false copyright notices or counter-notices may lead to legal liability. We may restrict or terminate repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
